King George Hospital's Neonatal Emergency Wing to Undergo Transformation into Children's ICU
In an effort to enhance healthcare services for children, the district administration of Visakhapatnam has initiated plans to revamp the emergency wing of the neonatal ward at the King George Hospital (KGH) into a dedicated Children's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to expand and improve medical facilities for pediatric patients in the region.
Under the guidance of District Collector Dr. A. Mallikharjuna, the necessary steps have been taken to expedite the conversion process, with instructions issued to swiftly complete the renovation works. Dr. Mallikharjuna emphasized the urgency of the project and directed officials to ensure that the children's ward is equipped with all essential medical resources.
The government has allocated funds for the initiative, demonstrating its commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services for children in need.
During a recent visit to the hospital, Dr. Mallikharjuna personally interacted with patients in the neonatal and pediatric wards to assess their needs and gather feedback.
Accompanied by KGH Superintendent Dr. Ashok Kumar, and AMC Principal Dr. Bucchiraju, the district collector reiterated the importance of expediting the transformation of the neonatal emergency wing into a specialized ICU for children.
