Liquor Sales in Vizag Soar to ₹10.78 Crore on New Year’s Eve

Visakhapatnam witnessed a record-breaking surge in liquor sales on New Year’s Eve, with alcohol worth ₹10.78 crore sold across the city. The festive spirit, coupled with late-night celebrations, drove this significant spike in demand.

According to officials, bars, restaurants, and retail liquor outlets experienced heavy footfall throughout the day, as revellers stocked up for the year-end celebrations. Premium brands, along with locally preferred beverages, saw an unprecedented rise in sales as citizens rang in 2025 with gusto.

Authorities had tightened security and conducted checks to ensure the festivities remained under control. Police teams were deployed at key junctions to monitor drink-and-drive cases and maintain public safety.

The liquor industry in Visakhapatnam typically sees a spike in sales during major festivities, but this year’s figures surpassed previous records, reflecting the city’s growing appetite for grand celebrations. With strong measures in place, the New Year celebrations concluded on a largely peaceful note.

Retailers and hospitality businesses expressed optimism about similar growth trends in the coming year, as the city continues to establish itself as a hub for festive revelry.
