Major Cannabis Bust in Andhra Pradesh: 125 kg Seized, 7 Arrested
In a significant crackdown, the Andhra Pradesh police have successfully seized a total of 125 kg of dry cannabis, leading to the arrest of seven individuals in two separate incidents.
The operations unfolded in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, showcasing the authorities' commitment to curbing the illicit drug trade in the region.
In the first incident, the police intercepted a car near Chinapuram layout under Padmanabham mandal in Visakhapatnam, seizing a staggering 120 kg of dry cannabis valued at 30 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, the city task force swiftly apprehended five individuals who were transporting the contraband.
Along with the cannabis, a bike and four mobile phones were also confiscated. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended destination of the seized cannabis.
In a separate operation, the Tirupati police seized five kilograms of dry ganja and arrested two individuals, Sai Krishna and M Sai, who were caught transporting the illegal substance near a postal colony in the town.
The successful operations underscore the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks and maintain public safety.
