In a significant development, the police in Visakhapatnam seized a staggering 200 kg of ganja from a residence situated near the government school at Acchiyammapeta in the Old Town area on Wednesday.

The suspects, who managed to evade capture, had been utilizing the rented house as a hub for transporting marijuana to various destinations across the country over the past 18 months.

Authorities revealed that the house functioned as both a storage facility and distribution center,

where the illicit substance was meticulously packaged in polythene covers before being dispatched through courier and parcel services to different parts of the state and nation.

A. Ravi Shankar, the City Police Chief, announced the formation of special teams dedicated to apprehending the fugitive suspects.

Additionally, he issued an appeal to house owners in the city, urging them to thoroughly verify the credentials of potential tenants before renting out their properties.

Failure to comply with this recommendation may result in legal action against negligent landlords, he warned.

The incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb the illegal trafficking and distribution of narcotics within the region.
