Visakhapatnam: During a review meeting on Tuesday, Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat highlighted the necessity for long-term, strategic planning in the execution of projects by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).

The MP directed officials to prioritize essential civic areas, including drinking water supply, street lighting, road infrastructure, drainage systems, parks, sanitation, and sports facilities. He emphasized the critical need for every household to have continuous access to drinking water, as certain parts of the city currently receive supply for only 30 minutes each day. He instructed the commissioner to implement measures for 24/7 water availability throughout Visakhapatnam.

Additionally, Sribharat called for the construction of retaining walls in hill areas to mitigate the risks of landslides during disasters. He urged officials to address encroachments that obstruct traffic flow, ensure timely approval of building plans, and safeguard GVMC-owned lands from illegal occupation. He also advocated for the promotion of rooftop solar systems and the dissemination of information about government subsidies to the public.

Following the review, MLAs and MLCs engaged in discussions with the commissioner regarding GVMC’s ongoing development projects and proposed solutions to existing challenges. The GVMC commissioner provided a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining various development activities.

Naidu (Gana Babu), CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav, P Vishnu Kumar Raju, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, as well as MLCs Duvvarapu Ramarao, Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, APIIC Chairman Peela Govinda Satyanarayana, GVMC TDP floor leader Peela Srinivasa Rao, and TDP district president Gandi Babji.
