Court Order Leads to Withdrawal of 35 Plots
The National Land Monetisation Corporation (NLMC) has withdrawn 35 land plots belonging to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), which operates the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, from its ongoing land auction process.
The decision follows a judicial court order prohibiting the sale of these plots. According to the Ministry of Finance's official announcement, the withdrawal was formalised through Corrigendum-6, dated October 26, 2026.
The affected plots will no longer be offered for sale under the original Request for Proposal (RFP) issued on August 31, 2026.
Auction Schedule Revised
Along with withdrawing the 35 plots, NLMC has revised the auction schedule through Corrigendum-7, issued on October 28, 2026.
The updated schedule includes the following deadlines:
-
Bidder registration and EMD deadline: November 1, 2026, by 8 PM.
-
E-auction date: November 3, 2026.
-
Auction timings: 11 AM to 5 PM.
-
Property inspections: Available by prior appointment.
The revised schedule applies to the remaining plots available for auction. Interested bidders must complete the registration process and deposit the required Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) before the extended deadline.
Previous Auction Attracted Strong Interest
An earlier auction held on October 12 covered 256 plots and reportedly attracted 470 bidders. According to media reports, 150 plots were sold for approximately ₹366 crore, exceeding the anticipated revenue of ₹312.48 crore.
The withdrawal of the additional 35 plots changes the inventory available in the ongoing land monetisation exercise.
Bidders Advised to Check Official Updates
NLMC has advised prospective bidders to review the latest corrigenda and the list of withdrawn plots before participating in the auction.
The corporation operates under the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, and facilitates the monetisation of surplus land and other non-core assets held by central public sector enterprises and government entities.
The latest documents and auction details are available on the official NLMC website and the e-auction portal.
