Over 500 CCTV cameras assist GVMC with waste disposal

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is ensuring that garbage is cleaned up by monitoring with CCTV cameras throughout the city. The City Operation Center staff are using CCTV cameras to monitor the amount of garbage in the bins and on the streets. Footage from over 500 cameras, which are primarily used for 24-hour surveillance in the city, are also being used to properly monitor Visakhapatnam's sanitary conditions.

Visakhapatnam could be the first city to use CCTVs for waste collection. Closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) are being installed at the dumping yards' transition points, where all waste collected by dumper vehicles will be deposited, and a total of 37 new cameras have been installed at the points where the waste will be collected by heavy vehicles and transported to the main dump yard.

Aside from citizen complaints, GVMC is also utilizing the assistance of CCTVS to clear the waste overload from the bins. These are assisting the GVMC in responding quickly and taking action in a short period of time.
