Popular varieties of mangoes available in the AP and Telangana



The Telugu states are the land of Mangoes. This juicy fruit, rightly called the king of all fruits, has 1500 varieties grown in India. Each type has a distinct taste, shape, and colour. 

Mangoes grown in AP and Telangana have a distinctive aroma. They boast of excellent varieties of mangoes that dominate the markets from mid-April to August.

Here is a list of Popular varieties of mangoes available in the AP and Telangana: 

#1 Totapuri or Collector Mamidikaya 

This mango variety looks like a parrot's beak, which is mild in taste and greenish in colour. The flesh of this variety is not sweet like other varieties but is excellent for salads and pickles. When ripe, it is greenish and looks like a parrot's beak.

#2 Banginapalli

Significantly more extensive than their Alphonso counterparts, this mango variety is produced in Banaganapalle of Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. With their pleasant aroma, they are oval in shape, with smooth skin, and are around 14 cm in length. It has an oval shape with light yellowish colour and few spots.


#3 Neelam

This variety is grown in every part of the country, usually found in abundance in June. With orange skin, they are tiny in comparison to other types. They have orange skin and are small compared to other varieties. of mangoes.

#4 Kothapalli Kobbari

This variety is grown in East and West Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh. These are sweet and sour taste and are usually eaten by many. One interesting fact about this variety is that they don't lose their taste even after getting ripened.

#5 Cheruku Rasalu

Cheruku Rasalu mango is the most popular juice mango from Andhra Pradesh. The mango is extremely sweet and juicy when it is ripe. It is sweeter than other varieties. The skin of the mango is green in colour. The pulp of the mango is deep orange when it ripes. 

#6 Suvarnarekha

This fruit is originated from our very own Visakhapatnam and adjoining districts. They usually ripe quite early, sometimes even before the summer starts. And the taste of these mangoes is sweet.
