'Prapancha Charitra' Bridges Decades-Long Rift Between N. Chandrababu Naidu and Daggubati Venkateswara Rao

In a remarkable turn of events, the launch of the book 'Prapancha Charitra' ('The Glimpses of World History') authored by Dr. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao has not only enriched Telugu literature but also mended a three-decade-long estrangement between two prominent political figures of Andhra Pradesh—Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and former minister Daggubati Venkateswara Rao.

The event, held at GITAM Deemed to be University in Visakhapatnam, witnessed an emotional reunion that many had deemed improbable. Both leaders, sons-in-law of the late Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), had been distanced by political divergences that spanned over thirty years. Their public embrace during the book launch symbolized a poignant reconciliation, capturing the attention of political circles and the public alike.

Historical Context:

The rift between Naidu and Venkateswara Rao traces back to the early 1990s. Venkateswara Rao, initially a dedicated member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founded by NTR, later diverged due to internal party dynamics. Naidu, who transitioned from the Indian National Congress to the TDP, ascended rapidly within the party ranks, leading to political tensions between the co-brothers. Over the years, Venkateswara Rao distanced himself from the TDP, aligning with the Congress and subsequently the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), further widening the chasm between the two leaders.

The Book Launch:

The unveiling of 'Prapancha Charitra' served as a catalyst for this unexpected rapprochement. The book, a comprehensive exploration of world history penned in Telugu, underscores Venkateswara Rao's dedication to making global historical narratives accessible to Telugu-speaking audiences. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, who lauded Venkateswara Rao's scholarly contribution.

Reactions and Speeches:

Chief Minister Naidu, reflecting on their shared history, expressed admiration for Venkateswara Rao's multifaceted career—transitioning from a medical professional to a politician and now an author. He humorously recounted his surprise upon learning about Venkateswara Rao's literary endeavor, acknowledging the depth and breadth of the work.

Venkateswara Rao, addressing the audience, emphasized that past differences were now inconsequential. He commended Naidu's developmental initiatives for Andhra Pradesh and, in a light-hearted remark, suggested that with technological advancements, Naidu could continue his leadership for another fifty years—a comment that elicited laughter and underscored the renewed camaraderie between the two.
