TDP media coordinator Gopal Reddy has urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to expedite the investigation into the attack against him that took place five years ago in Visakhapatnam. The request was formally made through a memorandum submitted at the district Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office on Thursday. The incident, which occurred during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime, involved an alleged attack on Naidu while he was the Opposition leader at the time.

During Naidu’s visit to Visakhapatnam, he was reportedly obstructed and verbally abused by YSRCP members, particularly followers of former Visakhapatnam North constituency in-charge KK Raju. The confrontation took place at Visakhapatnam Airport, where TDP leaders claimed that Naidu was intentionally blocked by YSRCP supporters to intimidate him. The police had taken cognizance of the incident and registered a Suo Moto case at the Visakhapatnam Airport zone police station. However, despite the case being officially recorded, no significant action has been taken in the past five years, leaving the issue unresolved.

Expressing concern over the delay, Gopal Reddy handed over copies of the First Information Report (FIR) to Chief Minister Naidu and emphasized the need for a fair and swift investigation. He highlighted that justice delayed is justice denied and urged the government to ensure accountability for the attack. The memorandum submitted by Gopal Reddy stressed that political violence should not be tolerated and that prompt action must be taken to uphold the integrity of the legal system.

In response, Chief Minister Naidu assured Gopal Reddy that he would look into the matter and take necessary steps regarding the investigation.
