SCoR Administration and Union Discuss Employee Issues Following Railway Bifurcation

The administration of South Coast Railway (SCoR) and the South Coast Railway Mazdoor Union (SCoRMU) have held their first Zonal Permanent Negotiating Machinery (PNM) meeting to discuss employee-related concerns following the reorganisation of railway divisions.

The two-day meeting concluded on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Discussions focused on issues affecting railway employees following the bifurcation of the erstwhile Waltair Division and the establishment of the new South Coast Railway zone.

The meeting was chaired by Principal Chief Personnel Officer L.V.S.S. Patrudu and presided over by SCoR General Manager Sandeep Mathur. Principal Heads of Departments attended on behalf of the railway administration.

Employee Concerns Following Bifurcation

The restructuring of the erstwhile Waltair Division into the Visakhapatnam and Rayagada divisions has created several administrative and service-related concerns for railway employees.

The discussions addressed staff issues arising from the reorganisation, with union representatives presenting concerns on behalf of employees across different divisions and units.

The union delegation was led by Zonal Secretary Ch. Sankar Rao and Zonal President G.N.S. Rao, along with other representatives.

General Manager Assures Timely Grievance Resolution

Responding to the issues raised during the meeting, General Manager Sandeep Mathur assured the union that the administration would extend full cooperation in resolving employee grievances within a stipulated timeframe.

The assurance is expected to provide a platform for continued discussions between the railway administration and employee representatives on matters arising from the new organisational structure.

Railway Staff Appreciated for Cyclone Response

During the meeting, the General Manager also appreciated the dedication of railway field staff who maintained operational safety and protected railway assets during two consecutive cyclones.

Union representatives expressed satisfaction with the administration's response to the issues raised, and the meeting concluded on a cordial note.
