Visakhapatnam: The state government has appointed Shri Shankha Brata Bagchi, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), as the new Commissioner of Police for Visakhapatnam.
Bagchi, a 1996-batch IPS officer, replaces A. Ravi Shankar, who has been transferred to the role of Additional Director General of Police, CID.
Additionally, Atul Singh, a 1995-batch IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police, APSP battalion, has been posted as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Vizag, the prominent coastal city in Andhra Pradesh, has significant focus areas under the new police chief, including tackling narcotics, enhancing cyber security, addressing land grabbing issues, improving traffic management, and ensuring the safety of women.
