Six Fishermen Safe After Fishing Boat Runs Aground at Rushikonda Beach

Fishing Boat Drifts Towards Shore

Six fishermen had a narrow escape after their mechanised fishing boat ran aground near Rushikonda Beach in Visakhapatnam on Monday, November 2.

According to reports, the vessel developed an engine problem while fishing off the Visakhapatnam coast. The crew subsequently ran out of fuel and dropped anchor in an attempt to keep the boat from drifting.

Strong Waves Snap Anchor Line

The anchor line reportedly snapped under the force of strong waves, leaving the boat unable to manoeuvre. The vessel was then pushed towards Rushikonda Beach, where it eventually ran aground.

Fishermen Reach Safety

Beach lifeguards, local fishermen and Coastal Security Police personnel rushed to the spot after noticing the stranded vessel. All six fishermen reportedly reached safety without injuries.

Marine police and Fisheries Department officials inspected the boat for possible damage. Plans were made to tow it once sea conditions improved.

Safety Advisory for Fishing Community

Following the incident, authorities advised fishermen to check their engines, carry adequate fuel and ensure essential safety equipment is available before heading out to sea—particularly during adverse weather conditions.
