Students showcase impressive tech innovations at the NSTL Open House in Visakhapatnam

The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam, hosted an open house exhibition to celebrate National Technology Day 2023 and to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event drew a large response from students in the region, who enthusiastically participated in the exhibition.

One of the highlights of the event was a working drone model created by students from Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering. The drones featured a unique feature that allowed them to avoid obstacles by taking off at a higher altitude. They were also able to carry a payload of up to 5 kg and reach a range of 120 km. The group of students was guided by Likith Reddy Gurubilli, director of Yamini Infinity Drones at MVP Colony, who expressed satisfaction with the drone's performance.
Another popular exhibit was a smart helmet made by students from Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College. The helmet featured a range of safety features, including a mechanism that prevented the bike from starting if the rider was not wearing the safety belt or was under the influence of alcohol.
During the open house, NSTL Director Y. Sreenivas Rao inaugurated the event and praised the students for their innovative ideas. He toured the exhibits and engaged with the students, describing them as future world-class scientists. He also encouraged school and college students to visit the exhibition to learn more about the research being conducted by the NSTL for the Indian Navy.
In addition to the drone and smart helmet exhibits, thousands of students in and around Visakhapatnam were able to witness models of NSTL products such as anti-submarine heavy-weight torpedo Varunastra, light-weight torpedoes, underwater mines, and decoys (Anti-Torpedo Decoy Systems). The exhibition was organized as part of the National Technology Day Celebrations 2023 (NTDC-2023) and to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
