Successful Restoration of Transportation Services in Araku Region

In a swift response to the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, Waltair railway division managed to restore the KK line in the Araku section within a remarkable 24 hours.

The restoration efforts involved the deployment of accident relief trains and additional staff from Vizag, Koraput, and Araku, effectively addressing the impact of boulders on the railway tracks. The tracks were repaired promptly, ensuring the resumption of train services.

Simultaneously, bus services were reinstated as authorities worked diligently to clear fallen trees obstructing the roads. Despite these efforts, some popular tourist destinations, including Borra caves, will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Additionally, access to waterfalls in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district is restricted, prompting visitors to verify with local authorities before planning trips to Araku, Paderu, and other tourist spots in the region.

The incident leading to these disruptions occurred when heavy rains on Tuesday caused boulders to fall onto the tracks, nearly colliding with the engine of a goods train in the Tyda-Sivalingapuram section of the KK line.

The alert loco pilot managed to avert a major mishap by applying sudden brakes and stopping the train in the affected section. Further challenges emerged near Besupuram village in Anantagiri mandal, where the Araku ghat road faced disruptions due to heavy rains under the influence of cyclone Michaung.

Responding promptly to the crisis, Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad and senior officials from the division rushed to the site.

Despite challenging weather conditions, they supervised the clearing of boulders and the repair of tracks, ensuring the restoration of train services within 24 hours of the mishap.

While normalcy has been reinstated at all three major airports, it's noteworthy that, except for Chennai-Vizag flights, almost all airlines operated their scheduled services from Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Vijayawada.
