The GVMC is converting a dump yard into a park

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is converting the Cheemalapalli dumping yard in Pendurthi into a park. The GVMC has already begun transferring the waste from this dumping yard to smaller dumping yards in this regard.

This dumping yard had over 16000 metric tonnes of waste spread across 15 acres, of which 13000 metric tonnes had already been removed. Over the next few weeks, the remaining waste would be removed in stages.

On Tuesday, the GVMC Commissioner and other officials paid a visit to the dump yard. Commissioner P. Raja Babu stated that the decision was well received by the locals and that the GVMC will continue to work to remove waste from other dumping sites.
