The Kondakalra Ava management committee holds its first meeting
The Kondakarla Ava lake and bird sanctuary is the state's second largest wetland. This largest freshwater lake, surrounded by hills and vegetation, is home to over 150 different bird species, including rare and endangered species such as Shelducks, Common Teals, Northern Pin Tails, Asian Open Bills, and others.
During the pre-independence period, this 1832-acre lake was a popular picnic spot for Vizianagaram Kings and Britishers.
From bird watching to boat rides, this location provides a sense of tranquility.
The Kondakarla Ava's management committee held its first meeting. Mr. Pattanahetti Ravi Subhash, District Collector of Anakapalle, presided over the meeting, which was co-chaired by Mr. Anant Shankar, District Forest Officer.
Various departmental and district officers attended this meeting. The committee discussed the difficulties and other critical issues. A proposal was made to form a Kondakarla Ava Mitra, which would allow volunteers to register. A mobile app was also proposed for tracking changes and registering volunteers, among other things.
