Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Faces ₹35,000 Crore Liabilities, Says Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik
Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik has stated that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), operated by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), is burdened with liabilities amounting to ₹35,000 crore, including defaults on loan and interest payments. He emphasized that all stakeholders, including employees, must collectively work towards improving the plant's condition and repaying its debts with dedication.
Mr. Poundrik made these remarks during a meeting with employees on Wednesday. However, union leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the meeting's outcomes and plan to address their concerns with Union Steel Minister Kumaraswamy during his visit to the plant on January 30. They remain committed to raising unresolved issues to ensure the plant's future stability.
