We all adore our Tollywood celebrities and enjoy the work they put on silver screen. From impeccable acting to styling these stars have set high standards. But, did we ever think of what our favourite celebrities have studied. Or is it that all have pursued some acting courses and joined the Telugu industry.
Nobody can deny the fact that we are quite obsessive about engineering. The popular saying on social media is making rounds that, people first pursue engineering and then choose their profession.
Well, justifying the above statement, it is not surprising to see engineers catching up professions entirely different from their degrees. Let’s have a glance at some engineers in the Tollywood industry, who made it big by choosing an entirely different career from their educational qualification.
1. Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao
King Nagarjuna is a qualified automobile engineer, he did MS in automobile engineering from Eastern Michigan University. Initially, he pursued Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering.
2. Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu made her debut through the film Jummandi Naadam in 2010. She graduated in computer science engineering from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology. After completing her graduation, she even worked as a software engineer for a few months.
3. Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood made his debut with the film Kallazhagar. The actor received Special Humanitarian Award for his humanitarian works during the Covid-19 pandemic in India from United Nations Development Programme. This actor is also an engineering graduate, he graduated from Yashwant Rao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur.
4. Sekhar Kammula
The director of some classic Telugu movies such as Godavari, Anand, and Happy days worked in the USA for three years before entering the industry. Sekhar Kammula is a mechanical engineering graduate from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT). Later he joined a film school and got his MFA degree at Howard University, Washington DC.
5. Kriti Sanon
The One: Nenokkadine lead actress, Kriti Sanon who later moved to Bollywood is an Engineering graduate. She pursued BTech in electronics and communication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
6. Ritu Varma
One of the very few native Telugu actress, Ritu Varma studied Engineering before entering Tollywood. She did her bachelor's from Malla Reddy Engineering College. After completing her graduation, she took part in the Miss Hyderabad Beauty pageant and was declared the first runner-up.
7. Vennela Kishore
The popular comedian Vennela Kishore initially worked as a Software Engineer in the USA. He pursued his master's in computer science engineering from Ferris State University, Michigan. During his stay in the USA, he got an opportunity to work in a 2005 film Vennela.
8. Kalyan Ram
Born with a silver spoon in a family in a family of famous film stars, Kalyan Ram pursued his studies and later joined the film industry. He pursued under graduation in Coimbatore and later completed his master's in Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
