Upgraded Port Stadium to Provide Training for 15+ Sports
Visakhapatnam has been witnessing a facelift in its sports infrastructure. The city's Port Stadium has been transformed into a sports hub, thanks to the efforts of the Vishwanadh Sports Club. The club has taken the stadium on a 10-year lease and invested Rs. 70 crores to upgrade and build infrastructure.
The new sports hub features professional training academies for over 15 sports, making it a go-to destination for sports enthusiasts in the city. The club has also added several new features to the stadium, such as a go-karting track, a mini golf course, renovated basketball and badminton courts, floodlights, and a bowling alley. These additions have transformed the stadium into a one-of-a-kind sports destination in the state.
As part of the Vishwanadh Sports Club's efforts to create a sports hub in Visakhapatnam, the infrastructure upgrade of the Port Stadium is being done at a cost of Rs 70 crore. The upgrade includes several new features, such as a 400-meter go-karting track, which is coming up near the east gate of the stadium. Additionally, a snow world and water park in a two-acre area behind the basketball court, an amphitheater, a children's park, and a bowling alley, among others, are also being added to the stadium. The civil works for the stadium upgrade have already begun, and the project is expected to be completed in six months. Once completed, the stadium will offer world-class facilities for sports enthusiasts in the city and the state. The new features are expected to attract more young people to take up sports and pursue their passions.
Narendra Kumar, the director of the Vishwanadh Sports Club, says that the club's objective is to create a sports culture in the city and the state. The club aims to unearth talent and provide high-level facilities to aspiring sportspeople. The training academies at the club cover a wide range of sports, including cricket, badminton, volleyball, hockey, athletics, basketball, archery, karate, rifle shooting, taekwondo, and fencing, among others. To kick-start the club's activities, the Vishwanadh Sports Club is conducting a month-long summer camp starting May 1. The camp offers over 30 activities, including painting, dance, music, yoga, robotics, and more, in addition to sports training. The camp is open to participants aged between six and 18 years and is expected to attract a large number of young sports enthusiasts from the city and the state.
The Vishwanadh Sports Club's efforts to create a sports hub in Visakhapatnam are commendable. The club's investment in the stadium's infrastructure and training academies will undoubtedly benefit the city and the state's sports ecosystem. The club's objective of creating a sports culture is also laudable, as it will encourage more young people to take up sports and pursue their passions. With the new sports hub in place, Visakhapatnam is all set to become a leading destination for sports enthusiasts in the state.
