Vizag Airport Makes History with the Self-Handling of Cargo Security Clearance Granted to an Airline
Great news! Vishakhapatnam Airport has received approval for air cargo operations, and Indigo Airlines has been granted permission to operate from the airport. This is a significant development for the airport and the aviation industry in India.
In addition, Vizag airport has become the first airport in India to implement self-handling of security clearance for cargo by an airline. Indigo Airlines has been given the responsibility of handling its own cargo security clearance at Vizag airport, a move that is expected to streamline the cargo clearance process, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
This new process will enable Indigo to handle its own cargo security clearance, including the screening and scanning of cargo and the issuance of necessary clearance certificates. The airline will be responsible for ensuring that all the necessary security procedures and protocols are followed in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
The approval for air cargo operations and the implementation of self-handling of security clearance for cargo by Indigo Airlines is a significant development for Vizag Airport and the aviation industry in India. It is expected to benefit not only Indigo Airlines but also other stakeholders such as cargo agents, freight forwarders, and shippers.
The airport and the airline have expressed their gratitude to the Hon'ble MP M.V.V Satyanarayana and O. Naresh Kumar from the Andhra Pradesh Air Travelers Association for their continued support in the development of the airport and the aviation industry in the region. This new development is expected to set a new benchmark in the Indian aviation industry, and it is hoped that other airlines and airports will follow suit, leading to a more efficient and streamlined cargo clearance process across the country.
