Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena is an accomplished officer, having graduated from prestigious institutions such as the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and the Naval War College in Newport, USA. Throughout his career, he has showcased exceptional skills as a navigation and direction specialist, earning several top honors along the way.
His journey began with remarkable service in the direction team aboard the esteemed Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat. Subsequently, he held pivotal roles as the navigating officer of INS Kuthar, Godavari, and Delhi. Notably, he also served as the Executive Officer of INS Mumbai, where he demonstrated exemplary leadership.
Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena's contributions extended beyond Indian waters. He commanded the Mauritian Coast Guard Ship Guardian, as well as Indian Naval Ships Kulish and Mysore during his distinguished career. Furthermore, he played a crucial role as the Fleet Operations Officer for the Western Fleet.
His expertise was sought after even in diplomatic circles. He served as the Principal Director Foreign Cooperation at IHQ MOD (Navy) and as the Naval Adviser at the High Commission of India in London, strengthening India's ties with other nations.
