Vigilance Officials Uncover Food Safety Violations in City Restaurants
In a recent operation, Vigilance & Enforcement officials, in collaboration with Food Inspectors from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC),
carried out surprise raids on two restaurants within the city. The establishments, located in Jagadamba Junction and Madhurawada, were found to be in violation of food safety norms.
G. Swaroopa Rani, the Regional Vigilance & Enforcement Officer, revealed that the restaurants were storing chicken, mutton, fish, and other non-vegetarian items in refrigerators.
Shockingly, these establishments were preparing to serve stale food to customers after reheating. Additionally, the owners were observed offering discounts and organizing buffets at reduced prices.
Samples collected during the raids have been promptly dispatched to the food testing laboratory for thorough examination.
Based on the laboratory results, appropriate actions will be taken to address the food safety violations uncovered during this operation.
