Visakhapatnam Range Inspector General of Police Gopinath Jatti reviewed preparations for the upcoming local body elections with SPs from Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam and Srikakulam districts. The review was conducted through a video conference on October 15, 2026.

 

During the meeting, the IG directed district police officials to assess polling stations, identify sensitive and highly sensitive locations, and prepare security arrangements based on local conditions. He also stressed preventive action against violence, intimidation, clashes and other unlawful activities during the election process.

 

The SPs were instructed to monitor habitual offenders and potential troublemakers, expedite pending non-bailable warrants, and ensure adequate police personnel, communication systems and rapid-response arrangements. Coordination with election officials and other departments was also emphasised to support peaceful and fair polling across the six districts.
