Visakhapatnam Collector A Mallikharjuna served notice over NTPC pollution



The National Green Tribunal (NGT) served notice to the collector of Visakhapatnam, A Mallikharjuna asking him to inspect the NTPC Simhadri power plant personally over the pollution caused by the plant. The Southern bench of NGT also asked the collector to send a detailed or atleast an interim report by January 7th, 2022.

B Sathish Reddy, a resident of Pittalavanipalem lodged a complaint in November against the Central Pollution Board, NTPC Simhadri, Union of India, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and the district collector of Visakhapatnam. In his complaint he stated that the plant is violating the conditions specified in the environment clearance guaranteed by the Ministry of environment and forests.


The complainant also mentioned about the dust and water pollution from the plant. Now, the collector of Visakhapatnam was served notice to submit a report over the Simhadri power plant’s pollution by inspecting personally.
