Visakhapatnam Declares 2-Km Red Zone Around Strongrooms

Visakhapatnam:* In a move to bolster security, Visakhapatnam city police have declared a 2-kilometer red zone around the strongrooms housing electronic voting machines (EVMs).

The EVMs are currently stored at the Andhra University College of Engineering.

To enhance the security of this critical area, the police have also imposed a no-fly zone effective from Monday.

This measure prohibits drones and balloons within the designated red zone.

City Police Commissioner A Ravi Shankar emphasized that stringent actions will be taken against any violations of these restrictions.

Further reinforcing the security efforts, Visakha Range DIG Vishal Gunni conducted an inspection of the arrangements for the upcoming vote counting scheduled on June 4.

Accompanied by Anakapalli SP KV Murali Krishna, DIG Gunni reviewed the three-layer security setup at the counting centers located in Sankaram village.
