Visakhapatnam district is nearing 50% COVID positivity rate

The district is witnessing a steep increase in the number of COVID cases and it is nearing 50%. The district has recorded as many as 1,263 COVID-19 new infections on Tuesday out of 2,606 RT-PCR tests conducted.
The positivity rate was hovering at around 48%. A few days ago, the positivity rate was around 38%. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh’s Covid cases touched 10,057 on Wednesday, which is highly alarming. This is the highest surge of Covid cases in Andhra Pradesh since June 13, 2021.
The state positivity rate is currently at 18.38%, and it is already known that the government has imposed a night curfew between 11 pm and 5 am from January 18 to curb the rising cases in the state.
The police in AP are also warning the public to wear masks. Anyone without masks would be taken directly to the Covid care centre and put in isolation.
