Visakhapatnam Financier's Murder: Wife and Her Lover Among Six Arrested
Visakhapatnam police have arrested six people, including the wife of deceased financier L. Hari Vijay and her lover, in connection with his murder. The accused initially tried to pass off the killing as a case of cardiac arrest, but the postmortem report revealed marks around Hari Vijay's neck, raising suspicions.
Hari Vijay, a financier from the ASR district, had married his girlfriend Samireddi Preethi around eight years ago, and the couple had a daughter who suffers from sickle cell anemia. They had relocated to Maruti Nagar in Chodavaram town in Anakapalle district along with Preethi's father, S. Shankar Rao, for their daughter's medical treatment.
During the investigation, the police learned that Preethi was having an affair with BSS Pranai, a resident of Chodavaram, and Hari Vijay had objected to their relationship. He had also allegedly harassed Preethi physically and mentally to end the affair.
Preethi, along with her father and a few others, hatched a conspiracy to kill Hari Vijay. On the night of April 17, they made him consume liquor and killed him using a pillow and a blanket. Preethi then tried to pass off the murder as a case of cardiac arrest with her acting skills.
Initially, the Paderu police had registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of the CrPC. But during the investigation, Shankar Rao revealed that Preethi and others had murdered Hari Vijay. The case was then transferred to the Chodavaram police for further investigation.
Besides Preethi and her lover Pranai, the police have arrested L. Lalin Kumar, Karri Ramu, Pitla Konda Raju alias Bashir, and Shankar Rao in connection with the case. The police are also on the lookout for a few more people in connection with the murder.
