The Food Processing and Standardisation Laboratory at Andhra University campus in Visakhapatnam received a significant boost with its inauguration .
The inauguration ceremony took place on Wednesday, marking a milestone for the region's food processing capabilities.
With an investment of ₹5 crore, the laboratory stands as a testament to the commitment towards advancing food processing technology.
Notable dignitaries, including Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath and Agriculture Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, virtually participated in the inauguration event, underscoring the importance of this initiative.
Spanning an area of 6,000 square feet, the laboratory was established with financial support from the A.P. Food Processing Society and is situated within the Department of Chemistry at Andhra University.
AU Vice-Chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy emphasized the dual significance of the laboratory, stating its value for both academic research and commercial applications.
The laboratory's capabilities extend to quality control and standardization of food products, offering a crucial resource for ensuring the safety and compliance of foods available in various establishments such as hotels, stores, and cinema halls.
