Visakhapatnam Police Crack 52 Cases, Recover Rs 37 Lakh Worth of Property in March



In March, the Visakhapatnam city police achieved significant success in tackling crime, cracking down on 52 out of the 86 cases registered during the month.

Among the recovered property valued at Rs 37 lakh were cash and other assets.

DCP (Crime) Venkata Ratnam provided insights during a media briefing, revealing that a total of Rs 71 lakh worth of property had been stolen in the 86 registered cases.

Prompt action was taken with the formation of special teams under the directive of Commissioner of Police A Ravi Shankar to apprehend the culprits. As a result, 57 property offenders were arrested.

The breakdown of cases solved includes three instances of robbery, seven house breakings, four chain snatchings, one car theft, 21 ordinary thefts, 15 two-wheeler thefts, and one other motor vehicle theft.


Preventive measures were also implemented by the police, including the installation of 703 CCTV cameras across various locations in the city.

Additionally, 292 awareness meetings were conducted by crime wing officers to educate the public about different types of crimes and criminals, as well as the importance of CCTV camera installations.

To ensure proactive policing, special patrols were conducted in crime-prone areas by dedicated crime teams. Monitoring efforts extended to individuals released from the Central Prison, with a focus on property offenders.

Notably, 2,160 mobile phones were recovered during this period, with 1,412 returned to their rightful owners.
