Vizag Launches Educational Tourism Itinerary for World Tourism Day
Visakhapatnam: To commemorate World Tourism Day, Visakhapatnam District Collector M.N. Harendra Prasad unveiled a new educational tourism itinerary focused on Indian maritime history, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems.
This initiative aims to position Visakhapatnam as a leading destination for international tourists, offering world-class facilities and high standards.
The Collector highlighted plans to develop a science museum in collaboration with various stakeholders, emphasizing its potential to enrich the educational experience for visitors. He stressed the importance of preserving ancient heritage sites, which, along with promoting recreational and international tourism, could drive the region's economic growth.
Prasad encouraged community involvement, particularly among children, to deepen their understanding of the region’s heritage and environment. He noted that tourism development would create job opportunities for the youth, contributing to the local economy.
The World Tourism Day celebrations also featured cultural performances by students, with awards given to photographers and participants of various competitions.
In a related event, the Adali Viewpoint in Parvathipuram Manyam District was inaugurated by District Collector A. Shyam Prasad, alongside local MLA Nimmaka Jayakrishna and other community leaders, marking another step forward for regional tourism.
