Vizag was chosen for the cool roof impact study
The Andhra Pradesh Housing Department is working to improve energy efficiency and build homes with modern energy-efficient technologies that will improve thermal comfort while lowering indoor temperatures, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption. It has chosen Vizag, Kakinada, and Guntur as the implementation and study locations for its "cool roofs" demonstration project, which was developed to meet that objective.
The government intends to build approximately 28.3 lakh houses using this modern energy-efficient technology under the housing scheme "Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki illu."
These cool roofs are made of materials that can keep the houses cool by retaining less heat. The effect of these cool roofs will be evaluated by installing them on selected houses in the three districts.
