Votes Counting: Vizag West Results Likely to Be Declared First, Bheemili Last
Visakhapatnam: Election officials are gearing up for the vote-counting process for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats across the State, set to begin on June 4.
According to the schedule, the results for the Visakhapatnam West Assembly segment are expected to be declared first, while Bheemili is likely to be the last to announce results.
The counting will officially commence at 8 a.m. with the initial rounds focusing on postal ballots. An election official stated, “The results for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha segment, which comprises seven Assembly segments, will likely see the final round of counting begin between 3.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on June 4, starting with the Vizag West segment. The voter turnout here is lower compared to other segments, making it quicker to count.”
Visakhapatnam West, with 1,48,942 polled voters and 16 counting rounds, is expected to declare results first. In contrast, Bheemili, with the highest number of polled voters at 2,75,747 and 26 counting rounds, will take longer, with results potentially being announced as late as 9 p.m.
The other segments have varying numbers of counting rounds: Visakhapatnam South will have 17 rounds, S. Kota (part of Vizianagaram district but falling under the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency) will have 19 rounds, Visakhapatnam North will have 20 rounds, and both Visakhapatnam East and Pendurthi will have 21 rounds each.
The counting process is meticulously planned. It will start as early as 4 a.m. with preparations, allowing agents of various political parties to enter the counting rooms by 5.30 a.m. The actual counting begins at 8 a.m. with the first two to three rounds dedicated to postal ballots.
Visakhapatnam Collector A. Mallikarjuna has emphasized the extensive security measures in place for the counting day. Around 500 civil police officers, along with central security forces, will be deployed at strongrooms and counting centers. The entire process will be closely monitored with the help of 176 CCTV cameras to ensure transparency and security.
The preparation for vote counting in Visakhapatnam is thorough, ensuring a smooth and secure process. While Vizag West's results are anticipated early, Bheemili’s large voter base means its results will be one of the last to be declared, wrapping up a long day of counting.
