VPA Extends ₹46.42 Lakh Support to Eye Hospital in Vizag

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority has sanctioned ₹46.42 lakh in CSR support to Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital in Naiduthota, Visakhapatnam. The assistance will be used to procure and install a 500 KVA generator at the hospital. The generator is expected to provide uninterrupted power during outages. Reliable electricity is particularly important for the hospital’s diagnostic, surgical and patient-care services. VPA Secretary M. Sankar Babu handed over the sanction order for the first instalment of ₹23.21 lakh. The first instalment represents 50% of the total sanctioned amount. The support is aimed at strengthening the hospital’s infrastructure and ensuring continuity of essential eye-care services. Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital provides tertiary eye-care services and community outreach programmes in the region. The hospital caters to patients from Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas. The initiative forms part of VPA’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to support healthcare infrastructure. Sankar Foundation representatives expressed appreciation for the assistance and said it would improve the reliability of patient services. The project is expected to benefit patients by reducing disruptions to critical medical and surgical services
