Woman Fabricates Dog Attack to Conceal Sale of 18-Day-Old Infant

Visakhapatnam: In a bizarre case, a report of an alleged dog attack on an 18-day-old baby in Visakhapatnam took a surprising turn when it was revealed that the incident was a cover-up for the illegal sale of the infant.

The police investigation, initially triggered by a complaint claiming that a dog had taken away the newborn, quickly uncovered the truth. The child's grandmother had, in fact, sold the infant, but the police acted swiftly and returned the baby to the parents within three hours.

Inspector Govinda Rao of the Arilova Police Station stated that he received a distress call at around 1 AM on Monday regarding the missing baby. Responding immediately, he, along with Dwarka Sub-Division ACP S. Rambabu and other officers, arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.

It was discovered that Muvvala Srinivas and his wife, Muvvala Manga, had been residing in Ramakrishnapuram for the past year. Their daughter, Dokka Chanti Bhavani, had recently returned home for the birth of her second child, a baby girl.

Facing financial difficulties, the grandmother, Manga, had secretly arranged to give the newborn up for adoption to Kolla Nag Appar Rao and his wife, a childless couple from Kasimkota Mandal. This decision was made against the wishes of her son-in-law, who wanted to keep the baby.

In an attempt to avoid conflict with her son-in-law, Manga fabricated a story, claiming that a dog had taken the baby. However, the truth was eventually revealed during the police investigation.

Thanks to the prompt response of law enforcement, the baby was safely returned to the parents, and the case highlights the need for vigilance in handling such sensitive matters.
