World Earth Day Initiative: Transforming Cities into Plastic-Free Zones

Visakhapatnam is gearing up for a significant environmental initiative as it observes World Earth Day on April 22, under the theme 'Planet Vs Plastic'.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner, CM Saikanth Varma, is leading efforts to rally citizens towards making the city plastic-free and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility.

The focus is on encouraging collective action to safeguard the planet for future generations.

The GVMC aims to raise awareness and drive sustainable practices among residents.

As part of this effort, the Commissioner is advocating for alternatives to plastic, particularly targeting single-use plastic covers.

Aligned with the ongoing 'Eco Vizag' campaign, spearheaded by the GVMC, Saikanth Varma is emphasizing the detrimental impact of single-use plastics and urging citizens to actively participate in the movement to beautify the city while eliminating plastic waste.

A series of events and activities are planned for World Earth Day on Monday,

Symbolizing a united effort towards environmental conservation and a plastic-free future for Visakhapatnam.
