Age Care Foundation has proposed an MoU to LV Prasad Eye Institute for providing free eye care to senior citizens
On this auspicious occasion of Sri Rama Navami, the Age Care Foundation (ACF) is proposing to sign a memorandum of understanding with the LV Prasad Eye Institute to provide free eye care to all senior citizens and residents of age care homes in and around the city of Visakhapatnam. The Age Care Foundation's coordination team will choose the places and beneficiaries continuously. LV Prasad Eye Institute will provide equipment and manpower to provide these services for two days every week, for all 52 weeks, without the day-to-day involvement of ACF.
For this purpose, the LV Prasad Eye Institute needs to buy equipment worth Rs. 21 lakhs to start this service, which includes regular vision testing (refraction), screening for cataracts, eye pressure testing (glaucoma), and retinal inspection with the latest equipment at the doorstep of beneficiaries. It will also set up a dedicated command and control center at the LVPEI campus for this purpose.
Towards this project, ACF will donate Rs 21 lakhs for the purchase of equipment and will also assign one room for establishing a control room dedicated to this operation at their Gambhiram facility. Mr. Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosys Technologies, is arranging a donation of Rs 31.5 from donors like Dr. K. Kumar Raja, Shri Kasi Viswanath Raju, and himself exclusively for this purpose so that ACF does not need to allocate funds from its construction account. This includes the cost of one room, which will be named after the donor and will cost Rs 10.5 lakhs. Each one of them would contribute Rs 10.5 lakhs to the ACF. With this collaboration, senior citizens in Vizag age care facilities will be treated with world-class equipment free of charge throughout the year.
ACF will be providing a service that will be the first of its kind in South India by providing the best world-class eye care at the doorstep of beneficiaries in addition to regular free medical camps. Mr. Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosys Technologies, is hoping and believing that it will find acceptance from the members.
