An elderly Vizag couple proves that age is just a number by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro
An elderly Vizag couple proved that age is just a number by climbing Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain and the world's highest single free-standing mountain above sea level. It took them six days to reach the peak.
Mallapraggada Sowdamini, 57, is an elementary school teacher in Visakhapatnam, and her husband, Mr. Ravi Kishore, 61, is a mathematics professor at Yanbu Industrial College in Saudi Arabia. This power couple set a new record by becoming the first woman from Andhra Pradesh to reach this summit at the age of 57, while her husband became the second man from Andhra Pradesh to do so at the age of 61.
They had to overcome various challenges on their way, but they refused to give up. From mountain sickness to knee pains, managing multiple layers of clothing to enduring temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius, they faced it all and reached the summit in 6 days.
