Andhra Pradesh to Host Tourism Investor Summits in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans to hold Tourism Investor Summits in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, aiming to attract significant investments into the state's tourism sector. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh emphasized the state's commitment to developing tourism infrastructure and highlighted the new tourism policy designed to entice investors.
During a recent review meeting, the minister discussed investment proposals from prominent hotel chains, including Oberoi, Mayfair, Taj Group, Hyatt, Mahindra, and Sterling. The discussions focused on the incentives and concessions available under the new tourism policy to facilitate these investments.
The state has identified seven anchor tourist hubs, with Visakhapatnam and Tirupati occupying prominent positions. The development plans include enhancing beach areas, improving cleanliness, and providing amenities such as drinking water and sanitation facilities. The government also plans to involve film celebrities in promoting tourism to boost the state's appeal.
These initiatives are part of Andhra Pradesh's broader strategy to make tourism a major revenue source, targeting ₹6,500 crore in investments for hotels and resorts, which are expected to generate over 25,000 jobs.
The upcoming investor summits in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati are anticipated to play a crucial role in realizing these objectives, fostering public-private partnerships, and positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading global tourism destination.
