AP Cabinet Approves Drone Policy and Key Development Initiatives

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, approved several new policies and initiatives to drive state development. Key highlights include the AP Drone Policy, aiming to make Andhra Pradesh a drone hub with a new Drone Development Centre in Kurnool, and plans for 100 drone manufacturing units, 20 drone pilot training centers, and 50 skill centers, creating 15,000 direct jobs and 25,000 indirect jobs with an estimated revenue of Rs. 3,000 crore annually.

The cabinet also cleared the AP Data Centre Policy, targeting an additional 200 MW of data capacity with modern AI-driven data centers, as well as the AP Semiconductor and Display Fab Policy (2024-2029) with subsidies to encourage investment.

In other decisions, the Prohibition of Land Grabbing Act 2024 was introduced to protect land ownership, replacing the 1982 act. Bills for GST amendments, an excise act revision, and an increase in judicial retirement age from 60 to 61 were also approved.

Further, the cabinet approved the establishment of the Kuppam and Pithapuram Area Development Authorities, along with infrastructure upgrades like outer ring roads in Amaravati and Vijayawada and CRDA expansion to include Sattenapalli and nearby villages. The state aims to clear Rs. 331 crore in pending contractor dues with interest and expects a Rs. 1,000 crore investment boost through these initiatives.
