New Traffic Fines in Visakhapatnam from March 1st: Stricter Penalties for Safer Roads

Starting March 1st, the traffic authorities in Visakhapatnam have implemented stricter fines to enforce road safety and reduce violations. The revised penalties aim to promote responsible driving habits, ensuring the safety of both motorists and pedestrians. The new traffic fines cover a range of offenses, from riding without a helmet to dangerous driving, reflecting the administration’s commitment to a disciplined road environment.

1. Riding Without a Helmet – ₹1,000/-
Wearing a helmet is mandatory for all two-wheeler riders. Those caught without one will now be fined ₹1,000, a significant increase aimed at reducing head injuries and fatalities in road accidents.

2. Driving Without a Valid License – ₹10,000/-
Driving without a valid license is a serious offense, as it endangers both the driver and others on the road. The fine has been raised to ₹10,000, ensuring that only authorized and trained individuals operate vehicles.

3. No Vehicle Insurance – ₹1,000/-
Vehicle insurance is essential for financial protection in case of accidents. Driving without valid insurance will result in a fine of ₹1,000, encouraging all vehicle owners to keep their insurance policies up to date.

4. Dangerous Driving – ₹10,000/-
Reckless or dangerous driving, including overspeeding, sudden lane changes, and aggressive maneuvers, will now attract a hefty fine of ₹10,000. This measure is aimed at curbing accidents caused by negligent driving.

5. No Parking – ₹1,500 to ₹3,000/-
Improper parking can lead to traffic congestion and accidents. Depending on the severity and location of the violation, fines for illegal parking will range between ₹1,500 and ₹3,000.

6. Minor Driving – ₹1,000/-
Underage driving is a growing concern, often leading to accidents due to a lack of experience. The fine for allowing a minor to drive has been set at ₹1,000, with stricter penalties expected for repeat offenders.

7. Racing or Overspeeding – ₹5,000/-
Speeding and illegal racing contribute to a high number of road fatalities. To discourage such reckless behavior, a fine of ₹5,000 has been introduced for overspeeding and street racing.

8. Pillion Rider Without Helmet – ₹1,000/-
It is not just the rider but also the pillion passenger who must wear a helmet. If the second person on a two-wheeler is found without a helmet, they will be fined ₹1,000.

9. Unauthorized Passenger Transport – ₹200/-
Passengers picked up illegally in transport vehicles, such as overloaded autos and private cabs operating without permission, will be fined ₹200 per passenger.
