AP Revenue Department Reclaims 15 Acres of High-Value Land Allocated to Sharada Peetham in Visakhapatnam

In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Department has reclaimed 15 acres of prime land located in Rishikonda, near Kothavalasa in Bheemili mandal, which was previously allocated to the Visakha Sharada Peetham by the former YSRC government. Originally granted at a nominal price of Rs. 1 lakh per acre, the land’s current market valuation is estimated at approximately Rs. 15 crore per acre, making the total value of the seized property a substantial Rs. 225 crore. This considerable difference in valuation has sparked concerns about potential undervaluation in the previous transaction.

The decision to repossess the land follows a thorough investigation by the present alliance government, which revealed irregularities in the initial allocation. Acting on these findings, the Revenue Department carried out a formal seizure of the property on Thursday, conducting a "panchnama," a documented procedure for recording the repossession. Revenue Special Chief Secretary Sisodia was briefed on the procedural completion.

Officials stated that the reclaimed land will undergo a comprehensive reassessment to ensure fair valuations in future allocations. This step, they emphasized, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to prevent similar undervaluation issues and to safeguard valuable public resources.

The recent reclamation exemplifies the administration's increased scrutiny of past land allocations, particularly involving state-owned properties. This action underscores the government’s commitment to addressing irregularities in land transactions and to securing public assets from potential misuse.
