AP's first energy-saving building to come up in Vizag
Vizag will be the first city in Andhra Pradesh and the third in the country to get the Super Energy Conversation Building Code (ECBC) model building. The AP State Energy Conservation Mission will receive financial assistance from the Union Ministry of Power's Bureau of Energy Efficiency for the construction of this energy-saving building in Vizag.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency will bear 50 percent of the expenditure, which will be over Rs 10 crore, and the remaining 50 percent will be borne by the state. According to the Special Chief Secretary for Energy, K Vijayanand, this structure will be built with all the state-of-the-art technologies to make it a model demonstration building for the country.
Super Energy Conversation Building Code (ECBC) buildings aim for near-zero energy consumption and reduce electricity consumption by nearly 50 percent. If renewable energy is added on-site, then these super ECBC buildings can easily reach net zero in terms of energy consumption.
