AP’s flagship event- Global Investors Summit from today



City of destiny is getting ready to host Global Investors Summit (GIS)  from today at Andhra University Engineering Grounds, where the who's who of the investor community will participate in droves.  All requisite infrastructure is in place for parallel sessions, one to one business meetings, and other places for official machinery. 

 


The GIS will see participation of foreigners, ministers and few other VVIPs, widespread security arrangements will be made to provide top security cover to some people. Separate security measures will be taken for keeping vigilance at the airport, venue, and the locations where the guests will stay.

Earlier, the state government showcased its strengths in a string of metropolises through road-shows, including the Chief Minister himself flying out to Delhi vouching for the state to investors and diplomats recently. Ahead of the GIS, the police have intensified the night patrolling at various places in the city to catch people with criminal records to help maintain law and order situation, the police added.

City police chief Ch Srikanth said apart from laying full-proof four-layer security for the mega event, we also use advanced technology, including drone cameras, CCTVs, and few other security systems. More than 3000 police personnel drawn from various wings, including Greyhounds, Octopus besides commandos coupled with specialized squads will be engaged for security, we will use advanced technology, including drone cameras, CCTVs, and few other security systems.

For the first time in the State, the Visakhapatnam Police have branded a sniffer dog team as the ‘K9 Squad’. They have introduced it with security checks at various VIP and VVIP movement spots during the Andhra Pradesh Global Investors’ Summit-2023. The dog handlers have been given a particular dress code too. The ‘K9 team is currently taking up security checks with the breeds such as Labrador, Doberman, and German Shepherd. The city has 13 canines, including seven females.

“Exclusive nodal officers have been appointed assigning them various tasks and urged officials to coordinate among themselves for the smooth and successful conduct of the event," said M Mallikarjuna, District Collector. Special help desks positioned at the hotels, where the investors would be accommodated. Ambulances with medical kids along with the medical teams will be readily available at the event and uninterrupted power at the main venue will be closely monitored by APEPDCL authorities.

Almost all the hotels in Vizag city have been reserved for the event, said a senior officer in Vizag city. The state government has launched a registration link- advantageap.in to those interested in participating in the GIS.  The participants must register their names, sectors such as MSME, Startups, Innovations and a few others depending on their interest in investment.

The Andhra Pradesh government is confident of a very enthusiastic response to the summit from Indian investors and abroad. We are expecting partnership with the governments and top industrialists, said a senior official. Over 6,000 people, including some foreigners from various countries-Canada, UK, US, Dubai, have so far registered their names for the participating in the two-day GIS to be held in Vizag city, the number of registrations may go up in the coming days. We are expecting the participation of the top industrialists in the country for the GIS in Vizag city.

With the registrations going upward for the GIS, constant review meetings are happening along between all the officiating departments.  Director of Industries G. Srijana, said that a laser show followed by recital of “Maa Telugu Thalliki” song would be organised during the inaugural of the Global Investors Summit. She said that special cultural programmes would be organised at MGM Park near Beach Road for the delegates.

“The officials should receive the investors at the airport and arrange vehicles to ferry them to the hotels. Exhibition stalls and media briefing hall would be arranged at the venue. Each and every person would be given entry pass at the venue,” she said.
