Chief Minister to Relocate and Work from Visakhapatnam Starting September
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that he will start discharging his duties from Visakhapatnam from September onward as part of his decentralization plan for the development of all regions. This announcement was made on Wednesday during a public meeting in Srikakulam district's Sonthabommali Mandal, where the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for various infrastructure projects.
The move to decentralize administration is aimed at ensuring that all regions of the state are developed equally. This will also help improve the living standards of people living in remote areas. Under the decentralization plan, the state government will be functioning from Visakhapatnam starting in September, and the city will serve as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also stated that Visakhapatnam is an acceptable city for everyone in the state and has the approval of all the people. As part of the plan, he intends to set up his base in Visakhapatnam. This move is seen as a significant step towards making Visakhapatnam the hub of the state's development activities.
The Chief Minister's decision to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital of the state is part of his capital city trifurcation strategy. This strategy involves setting up a legislative capital in Amaravati, a judicial capital in Kurnool, and an executive capital in Visakhapatnam. The decentralization plan has been in the works for some time, with the Chief Minister making several promises to develop all regions of the state. However, the issue of Amaravati as the current capital of the state and the development of the greenfield city is still pending in the Supreme Court.
