City Task Force and Drug Inspectors Crack Down on Illegal Sale of Controlled Substances
A coordinated raid was conducted by the City Task Force and the District Drug Control Administration, following instructions from Assistant Director Mr. S. Vijay Kumar.
The operation targeted KK Silks, a clothing store run by Mallipudi Harikrishna at Baji Junction, Gopalapatnam, where it was discovered that Harikrishna was illegally selling controlled substances without a license.
During the raid, approximately ₹4,000 worth of Alprazolam (a sedative), Sildenafil Citrate (used for erectile dysfunction), and abortion kits were seized. Drug Inspector Mr. M. Srinivas Rao confirmed the confiscation and noted that a case has been filed against Harikrishna under the Drug Act.
Further investigations will continue, and actions will be taken against others involved in this illegal trade. The seized drugs will be submitted to the court for further proceedings.
In a statement, the Drug Inspector emphasized that prescription drugs and habit-forming substances like Alprazolam, Sildenafil Citrate, and abortion kits should only be purchased from licensed medical stores and used strictly as prescribed by a doctor. Misuse of these drugs can lead to severe adverse effects.
He also highlighted that, under the directive of DG Ms. Lakshmi Sharma IAS, special surveillance on the sale of narcotic and prohibited drugs is part of a 100-day action plan.
Legal actions will be taken against those found engaging in such illegal activities.
The operation involved Task Force SI Radhakrishna and his team.
