Visakhapatnam: The Steel Executives’ Association (SEA) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) organized a meaningful observance of 'Smruthi Divas' with a blood donation camp and a tree plantation drive.

In collaboration with the Lions Blood Bank and JCI Ukkunagaram chapter, the event paid tribute to the victims of the tragic steel melting shop-2 accident in 2012, which claimed the lives of 19 employees and contract workers.

Honoring the Departed
The event began with Atul Bhatt, CMD of RINL, offering floral tributes to the departed souls. This was followed by a tree plantation program, where Bhatt emphasized the critical importance of safety practices in the industry.

Contributions and Participation
Key officials, including AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), and SC Pandey, Director (Personnel), also participated in the homage and tree plantation activities at the SEA Bhavan premises.

Blood Donation Camp
The blood donation camp saw the collection of 102 units of blood, which were handed over to the Lions Blood Bank. In addition, a compassionate gesture was extended to the Loyola Oldage Home at Pendurthi, where lunch was served to its residents.

This observance of 'Smruthi Divas' not only honored the memory of the accident victims but also underscored the community spirit and commitment to safety within the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant community.
