Comprehensive Arrangements in Place for Sri Jagannadha Swamy Rath Yatra
All arrangements have been finalized for the upcoming Rath Yatra of Sri Jagannadha Swamy temple at Town Kotha Road, as announced by the temple's Executive Officer, T. Rajagopal Reddy.
During a press conference at the temple premises on Thursday, Mr. Reddy detailed the schedule and festivities. The 'Subhadra Devi Santhi Kalyanam' will be held on July 6, preceding the main event.
The Rath Yatra will commence from the temple premises at 4:15 p.m. on July 7, officiated by Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsi Krishna Srinivas. The procession will conclude at Turner’s Choultry, near Super Bazaar.
Devotees will have the opportunity to offer their prayers and view the deity at the Choultry until July 17. The return Rath Yatra is scheduled for July 18.
During this period, from July 8 to 17, the deity will be adorned in various avatars (Dasavatharams) of Sri Maha Vishnu.
Mr. Reddy highlighted the financial aspects of the festival, noting that the temple earned an income of ₹63 lakh last year, with expenditures amounting to ₹25 lakh.
Chief Priest Panangipalli Jagannadhacharyulu added that the festival has been celebrated since 1862 and expects over 2.5 lakh devotees to participate this year.
