DCIL Secures Five-Year Dredging Contract from Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority
Visakhapatnam : In a significant development for maritime infrastructure, the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SMPA) has awarded a Rs. 2,015.88 crore contract for a five-year maintenance dredging project to the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL).
This project focuses on maintaining the shipping channel in the Hooghly Estuary, which is critical for the Haldia Dock.
The contract, valued at Rs. 2,015.88 crore, spans five years and aims to ensure the navigability of the shipping channel, facilitating smooth and efficient maritime operations in the region.
The Hooghly Estuary is a crucial waterway for maritime trade, and maintaining its depth is essential for the safe passage of vessels to and from Haldia Dock.
Awarding this contract to DCIL, a leader in the dredging industry, highlights SMPA’s dedication to upholding high standards of maritime infrastructure and ensuring a seamless flow of trade through the Hooghly Estuary.
