ECoR General Manager Inspects Visakhapatnam Port and Discusses Railway Upgrades



Visakhapatnam : On Tuesday, Parmeshwar Funkkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railways (ECoR), visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority to inspect the railway sidings.

During his visit, he inquired about track maintenance, signaling, and other operational aspects.

Funkkwal was welcomed by M Angamuthu, Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA).

They discussed key issues including railways electrification, the upgrading of railway lines, the deployment of additional wagons, and the efficient evacuation of cargo via rail.


The discussions also covered anticipated increases in the transportation of aluminum, agricultural products, coal, and other essential commodities, underscoring the significance of collaboration for the development of both the railways and the port.

The meeting included the presence of Y Nagendra Babu, Principal Chief Operations Manager of ECoR, and Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair.

Following the meeting, Funkkwal also visited Visakhapatnam Container Terminal Private Ltd (VCTPL).
